Willam E. Cornwell “Duck”, age 94 of Fenton, passed away on October 1, 2022, Opening Day. Beloved husband of the late Myrle. Dear father of Diana (David) Davis and Connie (the late Tony) VanWagoner. Loving grandfather of David (Kristin), Daniel, Jamie (Becky), Jason and Jessica (Thomas). Great Grandfather of Trinity, Gavin, Cameron, Kylee, Liam and Jazlynn. Great Great Grandfather of Laken. Brother of Mildred. Duck also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack & Jeanetta; wife; 3 sisters; 9 brothers and his son-in-law. Duck’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday 11am, at Temrowski Family Funeral Home 500 Main St., Fenton. Friends may visit on Friday from 4-8pm.
Duck was born in Paducah Kentucky on May 28, 1928, the third of thirteen children. He worked hard even as a young child to help support his large family. Duck was introduced to his future wife, Myrle in Chicago and they quickly moved to Michigan and were married on February 2, 1956. They raised 2 daughters together, as well as; owned and operated Cornwell’s Disposal for decades. Duck would often give the children in the neighborhoods rides on the back of the garbage trucks. And “Uncle Duck” as he was called, always had quarters and dollar bills in his pocket for the games he played with his nieces and nephews. Duck was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many trips up north to his “Happy Place” and included his 4 grandsons on many hunts. He taught them everything about hunting and fishing and they each proudly carry on those skills and traditions today. In fact most of his fishing trips turned into family fish frys, which turned in to fun and exciting poker games. His family was everything to him and he adored each and every one of them. Duck will be greatly missed by his entire family.
