William “Bill” Bruce Baker of Swartz Creek, age 70, died Friday, May 14, 2021 after a hard fought battle with lymphoma. Bill was born in Tawas City, MI on November 14, 1950 to Robert E. and Mary (Sims) Baker. Bill graduated from Tawas Area High School Class of 1968. He joined the Army in 1969 and was a proud Vietnam Veteran and member of VVA Chapter 175 – 173th Airborne. He married Vickie Blust in 1971. Left to cherish his memory: Fiancée-Betty Binder (Swartz Creek), Son-Herb Baker and Daughter Shannon Baker (both of Tawas), Grandchildren-Jake and Katie Baker, Brother-Kenny Baker (Tawas), Betty’s Children- Julie (Ron) Webb and Jeanne Jackson, Betty’s Grandchildren-Logan, Ethan, Madeline, Livia, and Layne, his VVA Chapter “Brothers”. Bill was preceded in death by wife Vickie and brothers David and Robert Baker. He was a longtime hunter, trapper, fisherman, and story-teller who will be greatly missed.
