Toni Per-Olav Ahlgren, age 55, passed away on June 23, 2025, at his home in Flint, Michigan. He was born in Västerås, Sweden on June 2, 1970, to Irja Pietarinen and Per-Olov Ahlgren, but was raised by his mom and step-father, Pekka Pietarinen. Toni is survived by his mom and step-dad, his three children, twins Jordan and Noah Ahlgren, and Jacob Ahlgren, grand-daughter Adalynn, and his 4 older siblings, Kimmo, Pasi, Nina, and Sami Ahlgren, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his favorite grandfather Rafael Kojamäki in Finland, whom he spoke of dearly and often, his father Per-Olav Ahlgren, and his nephew, Mattias Ahlgren. Rafael was a great role model for Toni; the family often went there for summers to visit. Toni’s youngest son bears the middle name of Rafael in his honor.
Toni is remembered by his friends and family as a generous man who would help when he could. He loved his boys, traveling, visiting his family in Sweden and Finland, bowling, fishing, spending time poolside in the sun, and listening to music, particularly Ed Sheeran and Lindsey Stirling.
Toni came to the USA on a work visa in 1997, where he met his ex-wife and decided to stay, get married, and start a family. Toni was a design engineer in the automotive industry. He served 2 years in the Swedish Air Force and went to college for his engineering degree in Sweden.
The family is honoring his wishes with a cremation and a private ceremony. If anyone would like to help his children with the unexpected expenses, please contact the family directly.
