Susan Carol Townsend

Mrs. Susan Carol Townsend, age 73, passed away February 28, 2019 at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. She was born Feb. 20, 1946 the daughter of Russell and Pauline (Oskey) Bard.  On February 15, 1969 she married Michael Townsend and they recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.  She is survived by her husband Michael; daughter, Fymshelle Riley; grandchildren, Tyler and Jayme Riley; sisters, Linda(Dennis) Lovejoy and Bonnie Melton; and nephews and nieces, Dwight(Amira) Lovejoy, Jaime(Greg) Weidanz, Raymond(Michelle) Melton and Geneyce Melton.  Cremation has taken place.  Susan was a lifelong resident of Genesee County and grew up in Swartz Creek, graduating in 1964.  Susan was a member of the Grand Blanc Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2010 and in the last 5 years it became increasingly difficult to deal with the diseases progression. For the last 3 years she has resided at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center.  We would like to thank the nurses and staff for their love, encouragement, and support.  For those desiring, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
