With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to Steve Mardlin February 1, 2025. A truly outstanding man, whose life was a testament to kindness, genuineness, integrity and a deep love for his family and community. Steve touched countless lives, whether it be with generosity or time invested in the Kiwanis, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce or Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife Kathy were very fortunate to have spent the past 36 years together enjoying adventures with friends and family. A life together well spent. He never missed his nieces and nephews activities. Helping them move (literally) into every next chapter of their lives. His unwavering support was more like a father figure in their lives, versus an uncle. Steve was present at every event, especially when it came to his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Steve left an indelible mark on all who knew him.Steve will be deeply missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he so deeply touched. His love was to help others with his selfless nature. He never let age get in the way of anything. Whether it be his stubbornness of mowing his own lawn in his 80’s or diving into the pool with the kids. Steve was born July 7,1934 in Sandusky, Mi., grew up in the Rochester area. He came to Flint where he worked for General Motors. Upon retiring, he worked for House of Doors. Steve had a passion to serve the community, so he decided to start his own business “Doors Galore” in Swartz Creek. He served the community for 25 years. Steve is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Dawn(Rick) Ireland, son Steve Mardlin Jr.,granddaughter Stephenie. Also, sister in laws Jeannie(Rafek) David, Joan (Sherman) Hazelton, Mary Michailo and brother in law Pete (Donna) Michailo. Many beloved nieces andnephews and great nieces and nephews. So many cherished friends. Gone but not forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Steve’s live will take place in the future.
