Shelly A. (Cluckey) Greene Obituary

On May 8, 2026, the world grew quieter as Shelly Ann Greene passed away at the age of 48. Though her time here feels far too brief, the love, laughter, and fierce devotion she poured into the lives of others will echo for generations.

Born in Howell and raised in Hartland, Shelly was a woman who walked boldly through life to the rhythm of her own beautiful and unshakable drum. She made her home in Fenton, where she created a world filled with love, honesty, humor, and a touch of magic.

Shelly was many things in her lifetime—an accomplished author, a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant, a Licensed Bail Bondsman, a florist, a compassionate home healthcare provider, and most importantly a wife, mom, and grandma. Yet titles only tell part of her story. Her true calling was caring for others. Whether tending to patients, helping a friend in need, or comforting a loved one, Shelly gave her whole heart. She treated everyone with the tenderness and dignity she would want for her own family, and in doing so, she left countless lives better than she found them.

To know Shelly was to know laughter. Her wit was sharp, her sarcasm unmatched, and her love unmistakable. She could turn any moment into a joke and had a gift for making people laugh when they needed it most. Her favorite sayings—“Don’t make me throat punch you,” “Don’t be stupid,” “Take me as I am or walk away,” and most importantly, “I love you”—captured the essence of who she was: strong, honest, unapologetically herself, and deeply affectionate.

Shelly found joy in the simple and extraordinary things alike. She loved crafting, reading, listening to audiobooks, and writing. But above all else when she became a grandma to Lucas, it reshaped her heart and the true definition of unconditional love. She was fascinated by the human mind and spent countless hours immersed in documentaries, true crime, and psychological studies, always seeking to understand how darkness could exist in the world because her own heart was so full of light. She delighted in her whimsical gnome garden, treasured her crystals, and never missed an opportunity to show off her newest set of beautifully designed nails. Every detail of her life reflected her creativity, curiosity, and vibrant spirit.

Above all else, Shelly loved her family. They were her greatest pride, her safest harbor, and the center of her universe. She was the kind of woman who would carry the weight of the world if it meant lightening the burden for someone she loved. Her heart was generous, steadfast, and endlessly loyal.

Shelly is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Greene; her cherished sons, Justin (Angelina) Greene and Garrett Greene; her adored grandson, Lucas Greene; her loving sister, Lisa (Cluckey) Holmes; her father and many other family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Martha Cluckey, her Aunt Esther, her mother, and her father-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Greene.

Those who knew Shelly will remember her as caring, funny, loving, strong-willed, passionate, determined, honest, and fiercely loyal. She was one of a kind—funny beyond measure, beautifully complex, and utterly unforgettable.

Some people pass through this world like a gentle breeze. Shelly arrived like a wild and wonderful storm—bold, unforgettable, and impossible not to notice. She loved fiercely, spoke truth without hesitation, laughed loudly, and gave endlessly. Her fingerprints remain on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

When you think of Shelly, picture her with a mischievous smile, a spectacular set of nails, and a joke ready on her lips. Hear her laughter. Feel her love. And remember her words: “Take me as I am or walk away.”

How lucky we were to know her exactly as she was. We were fortunate to be able to walk the path of life by her side.
