Robert Edward Wilson “Bob”, age 72, passed away on December 16, 2022. Beloved husband of Micheline. Beloved son-in-law of Ghislaine Michiels and the late Guy Solau. Beloved step-father of Michail Guy Armoutakis and step-grandpa of Vassilis Armoutakis. Beloved by his step-family (uncle the late Jean Michiels and his wife Nicole Gilbert, cousin Dominique Jozeau and his wife Patricia and their children and grand-children, grand-uncle Antoine de Breyne and his wife Suzanne and children and grand-children, the late uncle George Solau and his wife the late Blanche, uncle Bob Solau and his wife Micheline and children and grand-children). Step-son of Judith Wilson. Brother of Richard (Mari), Jennifer, Jack, and Stephan. Bob also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents, John “Jack” and Doris Wilson, and sisters, Mary Jo and Carol.
Bob passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness with family and friends at his side. Bob and Micheline had a wonderful life together, always laughing, so Micheline was comforted that if he “had to go” this is the way he wanted it. At his side were his brother Richard Wilson and his wife Mari, Chaplain James of the DAV, Cindy Beliveau of the DAV, friends Charlie Allen and his wife Julie, Neal Ketterer, the Commander of VFW Post 822 in Flint Michigan. Bob was Junior Vice Commander & Adjutant of this post. He also served as 10th District Commander Dept of Michigan VFW, Grand of Michigan Adj/Inspector. Came also, just after he passed away, Jeremy Scharrer, 'Parks and Recreation' Commission of the City of Burton.
Robert joined the Navy in February 1971 and retired as a Petty Officer 1st Class with 32 years of Active Duty and Reserve Service. Robert was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of various Posts and the latest was Post 822, and served in many capacities as Post Commander, District Commander, and multiple chairmanships. He was a Life Member of the Military Order of the Cootie, the Honor Degree of the VFW, and served in many capacities as Grand (State) Adjutant, Historian, and multiple chairmanships. Robert was also a Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter #3 where he served as Adjutant. Vice President of Legislative Affairs of the Navy League. Chair of the Veterans Community Action Team (VCAT Reg-6).
He served on the City of Burton 'Parks and Recreation' Commission. Member of the American Legion. Robert loved working with and serving all Veterans.
Bob wanted to be laid to rest at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Veteran Honors and committal prayers are set for Thursday, January 5, 1:30 at the cemetery. Following the honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, there will be a celebration of life at VFW Post 822 where he will receive his respects, 5065 Saginaw Road, Flint, Grand Blanc Township.
