Robert C. McDermott

Robert “Bobby” McDermott, age 73, passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family March 22, 2022.  Bobby’s passion was volunteering to help the kids, adults, and his community of Hazel Park. He was a mentor and cheerleader and touched the lives of so many. He helped in the creation of the summer park program, youth assistance activities, volunteered at  Hoover School and food distributions.  He served two tours in Vietnam and then was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp.  He is survived by siblings Ann (Bill) Brown, Stephen (Mary Ann) McDermott, Patrick McDermott, Maureen (Walt) Marunczak, Cecelia McDermott, Mary Rodrigues, Daniel McDermott, Carole (Greg) Burris; brother in law Andy Clissold; and many nieces, nephews, special mention of Domenic Russell, and many cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by parents Robert and Olive (Devine) McDermott and sisters Olive Kathy (Tom) Hendrickson and Margaret Clissold.  A private interment service will take place Monday, April 11, 2022, at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hazel Park Youth Program.
