Richard J. Hess

Mr. Richard Joseph Hess of Chelsea, Michigan, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was born on September 18, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Richard F. Hess & Lorraine Karski.  In Richard's younger years he served in the Naval branch of the U.S. Military. Richard spent his entire career working in healthcare as an X-ray technician and MRI tech and enjoyed his work. In his spare time he has always enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing, especially in northern Michigan. He was also an avid car and photography enthusiast.  He loved his pets, especially his cat Toby.  Richard is proceeded in death by his wife Lynda Rae Hess. He is survived by his children; daughters Andrea (James) Shoemaker, Erica (Mark) Richards, son Adam (Sammi) Hess and stepsons Ben (Jennifer) Culver and Barney (Emily) Culver; grandson's, Jameson, Sullivan and Carson Shoemaker; step mother Alice Hess;  siblings,  Kathy (Dave) Freer, Randall (Christine) Hess, Robert (Beth) Hess, Dennis Smith, Marty (Debbie) Smith, Nancy (Mike) Macomb, Lynn (Karen) Karski, Lorraine (Vauhn) Meatte and the late John F. Hess and Woody Smith;  and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the USO in his memory.
