Paul, born on November 20, 1927, in Aalborg, Denmark, embarked on a remarkable journey through life. Following the conclusion of World War II, he pursued his dream of becoming a painter and decorator by enrolling in trade school. In 1949, he served in the Danish Army.
In 1950, Paul immigrated to the United States, where he served again, this time in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. Over the span of 55 years, he built a thriving career as a skilled painter and decorator in the Flint area. To him, many of his clients became more than customers; they were like an extended family.
Paul's adventurous spirit led him to explore over 20 countries and traverse most of the states during his lifetime. He relished the simple pleasures of life, cherishing moments with his loved ones, savoring delicious meals, and indulging in sweet desserts. Throughout his days, his sense of humor and the mischievous twinkle in his eye remained, endearing him to all who knew him.
He is survived by son Jim (Jill) Nielsen; daughter Sue (Jay) Wiard; daughter-in-laws, Sharon (Todd) Braithwaite and Pat Hiller; son-in-laws, Tom Ochodnicky and Gordon Caverly; grandchildren, Erik (Stacy) Nielsen, Kirsten (Nicole) Dailey, Michelle (Nick) Walls, Amanda Hittle, and great grandchildren Joselynn, Connor and Noah and many more in his extended family.
