Michael David Snow, age 68, passed away on January 24, 2022. Beloved son of William (Janet) Snow and the late Joan (Gene) Doolin. Dear father of Michelle Snow, Jeffrey Snow, Torena Gehrett, Ryan (Jackie) Edwards and Rees Snow. Brother of Sandy (Mark) Yovich, Kim Wheeler and the late Kathy "Kat" Snow-Fuller. Mike also leaves 6 grandchildren, nieces and many dear friends.
Mike grew up in the Clarkston/Waterford area and after high school briefly served in the United States Army. He eventually moved to Gladwin where he lived for the last 16 years. Mike enjoyed being outside and was never too busy to stop and appreciate nature. He was a free spirit who often told stories of his hitch hiking adventures. Being a fan of Bob Ross, he would comment on the happy trees, a sunset, birds or falling snow. He was an avid musician and would always say his “occupation was musician”, but he would do “side gigs like maintenance and construction to pay the rent”. He belonged to several bands over the years, including Boys Next Door, Sinsation and Radical Knight, and played in local Detroit venues like Harpo's and the Ritz. More recently he sang in the Willie Spitz Band, playing for numerous charities and fundraisers. Mike was very musically inclined and taught himself to play many different instruments. In his later years when he couldn’t perform live, he kept busy making music with his guitar pedals and producing videos for his Mattoid Music YouTube channel. He was a huge fan of The Beatles and particularly, “All My Lovin”. However, when asked, he said his favorite song was “Silver” by Tranquility.
Mike was a Trekkie who also loved old James Bond movies, and found much comfort in his last few months watching stand up comedy with his daughter by his side.
He was a big jokester and always had a joke or prank to share. He enjoyed being the type of grandpa who would get the grand kids to pull his finger and he enjoyed using his creativity to prank Gladwin residents with his Willie the Gator and Halloween spider. When asked what made his life worth living, he said “making music and spreading happiness” He loved putting a smile on someone’s face either from a Dad joke, sharing his dark (and sometimes politically incorrect) humor, playing pranks or walking around with jingle bells in his pocket so kids thought he was Santa. Mike’s humor, caring ways and positive attitude will deeply missed.
