Melvin Fiehn Jr. Obituary

Melvin Charles Fiehn Jr. was called home by  our Lord Jesus on September 18, 2022. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Gloria. This beloved dad leaves his daughters, Genine Hendershot, Regina Hendershot and Malinda (Fiehn) Timney and son in law Russel Timney. He was treasured by his grandchildren Branden Hendershot (Alexandria), Dante Carter (Mariah), Alexiana (Boo Little) Fiehn, (Dante), his great grandchildren, Carson and Kyla Hendershot, Ava and Daxsen Hendershot, Zayden Carter, Kaylynn Ball and soon to arrive the next great grand child baby Carter.

He was the oldest brother to Kenneth Fiehn (deceased), Susan(Sylvestre – deceased) Ozuna, Sonja (Brad) Steichen, Dawna May (deceased), Dale (Chi) Davis and Lynette (Chris) Reedy. Also surrounded in love by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many cousins across the country who will miss him, especially his dearest cousin and life long friend Bill (Beverly) Poore who will deeply miss him.

He was born on September 22, 1959 in Elgin, IL. He felt especially proud of his military service as an Army Paratrooper out of Ft. Benning, GA. He graduated airborne in April 1977and was honorably discharged in January 1983. His chosen trade was a lineman with Pirtano in Illinois and then spent 20 years with Fiberlink. He left many friends when he moved onto another plan and began to learn the tool and die trade at Dietech and has now left there with even more friends.

His favorite past time was teaching his kids and grandchildren (and anyone else who would listen) how to shoot guns (of all types), throwing axes and knives and giving history lessons from the 1800’s era.

His greatest fun and adventures were set out West and rendezvousing and road tripping with his 1812 Reenactment brothers. He always came back recharged and ready for the next adventure. This group of brothers was part of his heart and soul, a true band of brothers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
