Mary Jane (McCarthy) Smith

Mary Jane (McCarthy) Smith, age 76 of Saginaw. Beloved Mother, Nana, Sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 4, 2021.  Mary was born May 18, 1944 in Boston, MA to the late Joseph and Jane McCarthy. She eventually settled in Saginaw, MI to raise a family. She worked most of her years as a distributor for the M&M Mars Candy Co. The neighborhood kids always knew where to find her! After raising her family, Mary moved back to Boston where she worked as a Health Unit Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital. Upon retiring, Mary moved back to Saginaw, MI where she worked part time as a greeter at Walmart.  She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting and taking art classes. She was also an avid reader.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Lori (nee: Smith) Raymond, son, Dale Smith; sister, Barbara (Richard) Baker; brothers, Joe (Nancy) McCarthy, Mike (Barbara) McCarthy; brother in-law James Downey;  grandchildren, Wes Smith, Samantha Smith and Jack Raymond;  father to her children,  Ron (Denise) Smith;  as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Brian Smith; her sister Patricia Downey; and her son-in-law Dave Raymond.

Per her wishes she has been cremated. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at St. Andrews Cemetery at later date. Any contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Special thanks  to Posey Senior Care in Hartland, MI.
