Marva Lee Rock, born March 5, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, passed away on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the love she carried so deeply throughout her life. A lifelong resident of Flint, Marva built a world centered on kindness, family, and an unshakable sense of humor that carried others through their hardest moments.
Marva was kind-hearted, witty, caring, and devoted, guided always by her family, her legacy, and her unwavering belief in being true to herself — and in taking no nonsense from anyone. Her greatest accomplishments were the roles she cherished most: mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She poured her love into every meal she cooked, every person she helped, and every stitch she sewed. Whether through her cooking, her seamstress talents, or her volunteer efforts in community food drives, Marva’s life was defined by generosity and service.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lee Strieter, father Marvin Strieter, and brothers Nathan Bolin, Jeff Bolin, and Marty Strieter, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She is survived with deep love and memory by her husband Dave Rock; sister Susan Strieter; children Tony (Tonya) Orr, Rob Orr, Lori (Scott) Janiski, and Lanell (John John) Crowl; step children, Derek and Brandon; grandchildren Mercedes (Andrew), Bobby, Ciera (Bryce), Tyler (Caylin), Nick, Jo, Stuart, Marissa, and Gavin; and the great-grandchildren of Nick Orr and Tyler Orr. She also leaves behind countless close friends, family, and loved ones who will forever feel her absence.
Marva loved sewing, crafting, gardening, feeding birds, playing Skip-Bo, and—more than anything—spending time with her pets and the people she loved. She will be remembered for her kindness, honesty, openness, and the way she made everyone feel seen. Her lifelong lessons were simple but profound: listen, say hello to everyone, and treat people kindly.
