Marjorie LaBarr Obituary

Marjorie P. LaBarr (nee: Olmstead), age 89 of Clio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, December 29, 2020, with her family by her side.  Marjorie was born in Flint, MI on December 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Claude and Violet (nee:Brock)Olmstead.  On October 7, 1950 she married Rex LaBarr.  Together they had three daughters.  Marjorie was a Beecher High graduate and earned a nursing degree from Mott Community College.  She was a dedicated nurse and shared many stories and experiences with family and friends.  She also developed loving friendships with her co-workers.  Marjorie retired from McLaren Hospital in 1997, allowing her more time to spend at her cottage in northern Michigan.  Shopping and dining in Charlevoix and Bellaire was always a favorite.  She loved the beauty of Frankenmuth and enjoyed many family dinners at Zehnders.  Marjorie was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church.  Her love and desire for the Lord led her on a journey to the Holy Lands where she visited many biblical sites in Israel as well as the Great Pyramids of Egypt.  She was baptized in the Jordan River.  She will especially be remembered by family and friends as a generous person and expressed a genuine kindness to others.  She loved to laugh and had an incredible sense of humor.  It was our ongoing family joke that dubbed her “The Queen”.  Marjorie enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home and you could always count on a plentiful meal.  She adored her poodles and enjoyed watching the squirrels that visited the backyard feeder each day.  Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, decorating, reading, sky watching and flower gardening.  She is cherished and missed by her daughters, Renee’(Wayne)Pifer and Rexann Wentworth; grandchildren Dana(Chuck) Markasich, Joel Smalley, Shannon(Brandon) Leighton, Lindsay(Adam) Uhrig, Nicole(Preston) Jackson, Jordan(Heather LeDuc) Wentworth and Jonathan(Kristina) Smalley; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mikael, Holland, Danica, Noah, Elisha and Magdalin Markasich, Scarlett Uhrig, Wyatt Smalley; Rylee, Landon, Brooklynn and Braxton Leighton, Easton, Ryder, and Paisley Jackson, and Harper Wentworth;  sister in laws Audrey Olmstead and Betty Stevens; and brother in law, Jim Nicholas; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and friends.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Rex LaBarr; daughter, Linda Smalley; parents Claude and Violet Olmstead; brothers, Donald and Glen Olmstead; sisters, Roselyn Dimitroff and Charlotte Jean Healy; along with many other loving family members.  The family is planning a Memorial Service at a later date.
