Madelyn Jane (Douglas) Corbett “Jane”, age 84, passed to the Kingdom of Heaven on May 30, 2021. She died of a gastrointestinal condition that went undiagnosed last year. Jane was born May, 16, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Jay Edwin Douglas, a retired airline pilot for Pan American World Airway, and Dorothy Diane Werback, She is survived by her younger sister, Joanna Copp and Frederick Douglas. Her younger brother Mike Douglas passed several years ago as did her older sister Diane Montaggue. She is also survived by her two children from a previous marriage with George Furman Nassan, Jennifer Jane (Michael) Mosser and George Frederick Nassan; grandchildren, Whitney Jane (Benjamin) Joyce, Jenna Mosser, Joshuah (Brianna) Nassan and Julia Nassan. Something about Jane; she was a mainframe computer programmer for bank institutions until she was 70 and finally retired. Thought personal computers were inferior systems, “whats a mouse”? Mom was a serious person most of the time “Data in data out” she would say. It did not take much to make her laugh though. A glass of red wine, food and conversations of interesting issues was all she wanted. She was an intellect that enjoyed reading complex novels from such authors as Ayn Rand and Jane Austen. She loved the arts and theatre classics as Shakespeare, Chekhov, Miller and Greek Mythology. Jane was a longtime member of the Tampa Bay Orchid Society. Jane was a humanitarian and very much aware of world politics, studied the issues and loved the conversations. She was active, healthy, cultured, classy and stubborn! Jane was relentless in getting the job done—to her demise. She was the matriarch to our family and will be dearly missed. Rest in peace darling…
