Katherine "Katie" (Pritt) Carpenter, age 60, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away in her home, Sunday, November 14th, after a six month battle with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. She is a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was born July 26, 1961 in Wayne, Michigan. The daughter of Richard Pritt and Jeanette Vogel. In 1979, she graduated from Churchill High School in Livonia, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University for two years before getting married, becoming a mama, and entering the workforce. For years, Katherine worked as a District Manager in the retail industry. Katherine then graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1996 with a Bachelor's of Communication Science. This led her to General Motors SPO where she spent the majority of her career as a trainer in Sales & Marketing. Katherine married William Carpenter on August, 8, 1981; they had three children together. She was proud to be a "Registered Mom" for the Girl Scouts of America, a Sr. High Youth Group Leader at GBUMC, and "like a second mother" to many young people throughout the Grand Blanc community and beyond. Katie was also a lover of the arts, enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. Katherine is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Hyman and Eva Vogel, her Uncle, Richard Kleczynski, and her father, Richard Pritt. Surviving in addition to William Carpenter are her children, Rachel Carpenter (Charles Cameron) and Alison VanOverbeke (Chad VanOverbeke) of Chicago, IL; Caleb Carpenter of Grand Blanc, MI; her grandsons, Isaac and Isaiah Cameron, also of Chicago, IL; her brother, Tom Pritt of Battle Creek, MI; her sister, Cindy Pritt of Livonia, MI; her nephews and niece, Nick and Abbey Stoll of Livonia, MI and Joel Pritt of Battle Creek, MI, as well as her mother, Jeanette Pritt of Northville, MI. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 27, 12:30pm, at Temrowski Family Funeral Home in Fenton, Friends may visit beginning at 11:30. Rev. Roger Colby officiating. A private internment will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan on Monday, November 29th.
