Joseph Gerard Purrenhage, 57, of Fenton Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 19th 2024. Born on June 21st in Grosse Pointe Michigan, Joe shared his birthday with his father, creating a special bond between them.
Joe was a beloved brother and a dear friend to many. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Lou Purrenhage. He is survived by his siblings, James (Mae) Purrenhage, Sara (Anthony) Anderson, Karen (Stephen) Chicosky, Molly (Jason) Ashley, and Benjamin (Jennifer) Purrenhage and many nieces and nephews. He shared a close relationship with Rhonda Brumley and was blessed by an extensive circle of close friends.
Known in his adopted home town of Fenton for his friendly and open-hearted nature, Joe enjoyed working and socializing with people who shared his interests. His passions were diverse and included computers and software development, various forms of art including watercolor painting, glass fusing, and craft beer brewing. Music, in particular, was a lifelong passion that brought immense joy to his life.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and the memories we hold will remain in our hearts forever. His legacy is one of love, creativity, and unwavering friendship.
Visitation will be held on May 28th from 4pm to 8pm at the Temrowski Family Funeral Home in Fenton, Michigan. Prayer service will be at 7pm. Joe will lie in state at St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan from 9am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 9:30am. Interment with Air Force Military Honors will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, 600 N. Adelaide Street in Fenton following Mass. The family requests that donations be made in Joe’s memory to St. Matthews, Flint Institute of Arts, or Hillsdale College, reflecting his lifelong passions and values.
