John Stephen Blasco

John S. Blasco, age 89, of Holly, MI passed away August 30, 2023, in the presence of family. Loving husband of 61 years to Patricia (Hrudney). Son to Stephen and Ida Blasco of Detroit, MI. Brother to Dorothy (Larry Sinelli), Donna (Hal Long), Tommy and Eugene. John attended St Gregorys High School, after graduation John was drafted to the US Army in 1955. John served two years in the Korean War as a Heavy Vehicle Driver in Germany.

After being honorably discharged, John met the love of his life Patricia. The couple went on to get married on August 29th, 1959, and had 3 children, John (Jacqui), Vicky (the late Steven) Brody, and Andrew (Margaret). While the children grew up John went back to college to get his teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University. John taught at Highland Park Middle School for 25 years. John and Patricia welcomed 7 grandchildren, Guy, Ashley (Brandon), Abigail, Stephanie (Cody), Katelyn (Tyler), McKinley and John Phineas. And in 2023 John welcomed his first great granddaughter Charlie.

John was a dear brother-in-law to Marlene and Richard Dutkiewicz. He was loved by his many nieces, nephews and all his bonus grandchildren.

John spent his whole life dedicated to his family. He enjoyed the game of golf, watching Michigan football, casino trips and eating whatever meal Patricia would cook. John’s favorite things were to watch westerns, play his nightly game of skip-bo and pinochle with his wife and being with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 4pm until 8pm at the funeral home.  Mr. Blasco will lie in state Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11am, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Holly. MI.
