Jimmie Patterson Obituary

Jimmie Dale Patterson age 70, of Rankin, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 28th, 2020 (his birthday) peacefully at his home after a courageous fight to come back from a stroke. He was surrounded by his loving family.  Cremation is scheduled and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Jimmie was born at Hurley Hospital in Flint, MI on April 28th, 1950 to Conley & Frances (Watling) Patterson (of Kansas City, Missouri), along with his twin brother Timmie.  Jim graduated from Ainsworth High School where he was a member of the 1967 Football Big Nine Champs & MHSAA Hall of Fame.  After high school Jim joined the Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam as a Marine Scout Sniper.  Jim met and married the love of his life, Noreen (Kandow) on Sept. 29th, 1978.  Soon they had 3 beautiful daughters, Sara, Abby & Emily.  Jim worked as a truck driver with ABF Freight for 28 years. Jimbo was an active member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton, MI for many years.  He served as Chair of Applefest and head of the “Dirt Patrol”.  His favorite thing to do at church was working each week with the St. John’s Youth Group and going on retreats, Jamboree and mission trips to Owensboro, KY for Habitat for Humanity.  He enjoyed camping all over the state with family and friends in his travel trailer, grilling and watching sports (especially Michigan).  Bumpsy, as the grandkids liked to call him, greatest love was spending time with them going to their ball games, dances & playing with them in his beautiful backyard. Jimmie was preceded by his parents, older brother Terry and his twin brother Tim.  Jim is survived by his wife Noreen, daughters Sara (Nick) MacKool, Abby (Jeff) Corcoran & Emily Patterson (Gary Bonham).  His grandchildren Drew, Aidan, Brady, Heath, Lydia, Jacob & Olivia as well as many more loving family and friends. Jimbo was always ready to lend a helping hand and his strength, courage & fun loving spirit will be greatly missed.  He would like everyone to remember ...and the beat goes on... In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s honor to St. Mark the Evangelist of Goodrich Mission Trip, please. Please sign our guest book and share a memory.
