Jan Nickerson Jepson (AKA, Butterfly The Clown) age 68, passed away surrounded by her family on January 25, 2022. Born July 6, 1953. Jan grew up all of her life in the Brighton and Fenton areas, attending early education at Brighton Schools and later graduating from Fenton High School in 1971. She was a friend to all and helped organize her class reunions. Jan loved entertaining the community of Fenton with her magic tricks, balloon animals and face painting. She worked with kindergartners at North Road Elementary from 1986-2009, dressing up to show them that clowns are just regular people. She always stressed stranger danger to help make children aware by using her Crime McGruff puppet.
Jan is survived by her husband Bob Jepson; children, Ann Jepson, Bryan (Victoria) Jepson and Erica (Henry) Tilton; sisters, Lynne (Alan) Boogher, Chris (Pam Ripsom) Nickerson and Susie (Wayne Cortner) Nickerson; sister- in-laws, Nancy Mertes, Linda (Jerry) Sloughter and Amy (Tim) Murphy. Jan also leaves 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, nieces, nephews, a multitude of honorary children and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Gladys Nickerson and David “Doc” Bernard; and her infant son Francis Arthur Wilcox. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 10 from 12-3pm (please arrive by 1pm) at 6080 Denton Hill Road, Fenton, MI 48430.
