James Waite Obituary

James Waite died at home on April 25 at the age of 66. He fought a fierce battle against cancer for nine years. His strength and sense of humor were remarkable. Even when he was undergoing treatment, he often found reasons to laugh.  Jim leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Michelle Waite; son, Alexander Waite; daughter, Molly Waite; and son-in-law, Ton Fiselier. He is survived by his mother, Gretchen Waite; and sisters, Kathryn and Krista. He is also survived by his siblings, Jennifer, Eric, Peggy, Tammy, and Daniel. He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Waite.

Jim was born on September 26, 1953 in Dover, NJ. He was the owner and operator of D&J Electric, which was later renamed Craftsmen Electrical Services. Jim was known in the Fenton community as a hardworking, honest man. He was a proud supporter of local businesses. Though his vocation was electrical work, Jim’s passion was theater. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a BFA in Theater in 1976. He enjoyed directing, designing sets, and performing with various local organizations. In later years, he photographed productions for high schools, colleges, and community theaters.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made in Jim’s name to the FHS Theater Department, c/o of Fenton High School 3200 W. Shiawassee, Fenton, MI 48430.
