Georgia Lynn Szymanski, age 71 of Fenton, passed away Wednesday September 2, 2020 at home surrounded by her family after an 18 year battle with cancer. She was born November 25, 1948 to George and Marlyn Gilbert in Detroit, Michigan. She married Tim Szymanski, her husband of 49 years, July 9, 1971 in Livonia, Michigan. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at her cabin on Mullet Lake. Some of her hobbies were cooking, baking, gardening, crafting, crocheting and boating. She also had a love for dogs and bunnies. Georgia is survived by her husband, Tim Szymanski; children, Tim (Suzy) Szymanski, Teri (Brad) Smith; grandchildren, Brady, Ashlyn, Lauren, Rachel and Brooke; brother Randy (Joan) Gilbert; cousins, nephews, a niece and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
