Gary Leon White of Fenton, passed away on June 23, 2022 at the age of 87. Gary was born on July 11,1935 in Detroit, to William and Virginia White. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rosemary (Lane) White, children Robin (Dave) Bell-White, Randall (Mary Jo) Bell, sister Helen (Ray) Roehlk, brother Bobby (Sherry) White, brother-in-law James (Marge) Lane, grandchildren Steven, Stephani, Michael, Caitlyn and Skadi, nephew Raymond Roehlk, niece Kris (John) Hayes and great niece Riley Hayes. Gary also leaves many cousins around the world. He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Lois (Lane) Picard.
Gary was a graduated of Wayne State University. He taught music for over 50 years at Bennett Elementary School in Detroit and later retired from Our Lady of Victory in Northville and leaves behind many beloved students. He was a gifted pianist and enjoyed playing in many venues around Detroit. He was past president of the Hartland Players and the music director for many years. He was also instrumental in creating the Hartland Players Encore Youth Theater which continues to inspire his love of music in the community.
Gary was a loving and devoted family man. He enjoyed living on the lake where he loved to swim, spending time with his family, traveling all over the world with his wife and playing the piano. He was charismatic, witty, and will be sorely missed.
Memorial Service will be July 9, 11am at The Hartland Music Hall 3619 Avon Street, Hartland. Gary's favorite color was Red, so please everybody wear Red to honor Gary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Hartland Players or the Hartland United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the Posey Homes for the excellent care Gary received.
