Gary Glen Pollock was born 11/2/1942, Detroit, Michigan, to Ruth Anna Lemmon Pollock and Glen Russell Pollock. He spent the first few years of his life in California, and the rest of his youth living on Tipsico Lake Road, Milford, Michigan.
Gary graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1960. He then attended Ferris State College, later earning an Associate’s degree from Cleary College. In September of 1965 he joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam. When he returned, he was stationed in Ogden, Utah. After his service in the Air Force, he and Gail made their home in Milford (8 years), Lake Shannon, Fenton (17 years), and then Howell (32 years).
Gary married Gail Kellogg on July 2, 1966. Their children are Randolph Joseph Pollock (six children), Michelle Renee Wade married Michael Patrick Wade (four children), and Norman Jeffrey Reed (one daughter and one grandson).
Gary’s early work career includes FEIGLEY BUICK, Milford, ASA SMITH’s GAS STATION, Highland, and farm work. After the Air Force, he spent over 30 years at GENERAL MOTORS PROVING GROUNDS, Milford, as a test driver then a Senior Engineering Associate for the Safety Test Lab Crashworthiness Team. Upon retiring from GMPG, he started his own business doing skid steer and brush hog work.
One of Gary’s favorite pastimes was going to antique tractor shows. In 2008 he had the privilege of driving THE VERY FIRST TRACTOR ACROSS THE MACKINAC BRIDGE followed by 613 other antique tractors at the First Annual Mackinac Bridge Crossing. In 2025 the 17th Annual Bridge Crossing took place September 6, 2025, with 1089 tractors in attendance. Gary’s other favorite activity was to keep his seven-acre yard mowed and trimmed in pristine order.
Gary and Gail have chosen not to have visitation or a funeral at this time. Gary will be interned with a military service at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, on September 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
