Luke (Gary Lucas) Goad of Flushing, MI passed away at the age of 53 on August 25, 2024, in Flint, Michigan. Born on September 26, 1970, Luke was a man of exceptional character, known for his loving nature, kindness, great sense of humor, nurturing spirit, intelligence, and hard work. He truly was one of a kind.
Luke graduated from Flushing high school in 1988 and went on to play baseball and earned bachelor degree at Ferris State University. He coached and played baseball for Gary Goad Realty, where he also worked for several years in the family business. He then went on to build his own property management and real estate company, Ideal Homes & Realty LLC.
Luke enjoyed baseball and football games. He tried for years to be a devoted Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, but his heart was with the Michigan Wolverines.
He also liked to hunt, fish, play golf, and most of all snowmobiling. Luke loved going to the family cabin, where they would trail ride on UTV’s, ride the jet ski, go tubing on the lake, play a round of golf and get pizza. He had a genuine love for music and liked it loud.
He coached both of his sons in Upward basketball, and coached the Flushing Raiders travel baseball team for 7 years. He supported the girls in everything they did as well.
Luke loved Jesus, his family and friends. His faith had really grown, especially in the last few years, and he shared that faith when he could. He was the first person to jump in and help a friend in need, he was a great listener, and he made sure you knew he cared. He was charismatic and loyal, deep and emotional, full of feelings and empathy.
Above every other hobby and achievement in his life, he put his family first, always. He was an incredible husband to his wife Sara, and an amazing Dad to his four kids, Hanna, Lucas, AJ and Jasper. Luke was a fantastic son, grandson, brother, uncle and cousin. His employees became a part of his family. Luke Goad was a great friend. He was the best.
Luke was preceded in death by his daughter Skylar; his grandparents Albert Goad, Alfred and Margaret Waterson, & John and Theresa Kolak.
A celebration of Luke’s life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Westside Church, located at 5090 Pasadena Avenue, Flushing MI. The services will commence with a greeting at 10:00 AM, celebration at 10:30 AM, and a luncheon will follow.
