Our dear father, Frank J. Magyar, age 98, left this world to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his first wife Hazel (Galliker) and his second wife, Ruth (Scocur). He is survived by his four loving children, Daniel Magyar of Rocklin, CA, Michael Magyar of Shelby Twp., MI, Patricia (Robert) Adams of Port Charlotte, FL, Susan Bratton of Warren, MI. He is survived by grandchildren: Nicole Bratton of Royal Oak, MI, Anthony Bratton of Las Vegas, NV, Kristin (Patrick) Adams-Bondy of Niles, MI, Meghan Adams of Ann Arbor, MI. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; Desmond, River, Alexander, Samuel and Story. Dad was born in Saginaw Mi and preceded in death by his parents George and Anna (Luczi) Magyar and four siblings, George, Charles, Marion and Margaret. He will also be dearly missed by countless nieces and nephews, cousins and friends alike.
He was a WWII Army veteran having been drafted in 1945 at a momentous time in history. He was an MP guard at the Nuremberg Military Trials. He also saw the devastation at Auschwitz, Poland.
He was a very kind and gentle man. He had a great sense of humor and loved to add a quip to the dialogue going on around him. He became a journeyman electrician and made a good living working out of IBEW 58 of Detroit along with his BIL’s “BART” Bartholomew and Bill Galliker. He always enjoyed tinkering with anything electrical and was engaged in that throughout his life. He had a fondness for ice cream cones and would take his kids and their cousins out to Brown’s Dairy on more than one occasion as we shouted for joy!! He loved to swim and persued that throughout his life along with his love of old western books or a good western on TV; Gunsmoke being his a favorite show.
Dad was always ready to go on an adventure. He grew up in Saginaw, MI and moved his family to Warren, MI. He, later with his son, Daniel, went out west to work in Kennewick, WA. Then he moved to San Jose, CA where he sang in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Choir. In his later years he returned to Michigan and lived with his daughter Susan and near his other children Michael and Patricia along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, where new memories were made that we will always hold dear in our hearts.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28th, from 11am until the time of his funeral service at 1:30pm, at the Temrowski Family Funeral Home, 500 Main Street, Fenton, 48430. Interment will follow in Tyrone Memory Gardens Cemetery.
