Fay met her husband Carl while he was stationed in Colorado during his tour of duty in the United States Air Force. On a Sunday leave from the base he and friend Bill followed a pretty young lady after she got off the bus as they noticed she had left her gloves behind. The young lady, Fay's first cousin, Cy Gailey promptly invited the servicemen to dinner at her house and later called Fay for a date for Carl. Fay and Carl were married on May 6, 1952, in Raton, New Mexico, by a female Justice of the Peace after eloping. Fay was a fine artist, a self taught musician and excellent seamstress. She could play any instrument by ear. She loved being a homemaker and was very good at it. Fay was very close with her kids, grandkids and even the great grandkids, spending as much time as she could with them. In her later years she belonged to the Hartland Senior Center and was involved in many musicals and plays. Fay loved animals, especially her special dog Millie.
