Ester Abdo, Age 77 of Flint, Michigan, died peacefully in her home on September 12, 2021. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will gather for a private celebration of life.
Ester was born on November 10, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan as the daughter of Norman and Alma Green. In 1977, she married the love of her life, Dale Abdo. The two resided in Columbiaville for many years where they raised their eight children. Ester’s children were the pride of her life. In 1995, Dale and Ester became Houghton Lake residence and were the proud owners of the Lake Break Cafe. Ester shined as a business owner; she was a giving employer, and loved hosting car cruise nights. With her bright smile and contagious laugh, she had the ability to light up the room. She lived life with a cheery disposition and had a wonderful sense of humor, it was never a dull moment when she was around. She absolutely loved animals of all kinds and was a devoted pet owner. She lived for trips to the casino. Her free time was spent playing bingo at Lucky’s, shopping, reading, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband: Dale Abdo, Her sister: Francis (Gary) Melick, Her Children: Dawn Svoboda (Scott Taggart), Darryl (Connie) Svoboda, Tammy (Alan) Vanderhoof, Cherie Barbeaux, Darrin Svoboda, Scott Abdo (Leslie Stultz), Jodi (Chris) Wright. Son in Law: Dan Hislope. Her grandchildren: Tygar (Levi) Hirt, Andrew (Gina) Petitt, Devyn (Kelly) Svoboda, Taylor Wasinowski, James (Lacie) Smith, Jordan Grow, Kelly Yaklin, Danielle Grow, Carley Hislope, Keagan Cerny, Jared Hislope, Brianna Barbeaux, Whitney (Jordan) Hardacre, Samantha Abdo, Cameron Ranck, Emma Wright, and Aerial Wright. Along with many great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her father, Norman Green; mother, Alma Green; daughter, Jill Hislope; and son in law, Brian Barbeaux.
