Donald W. Chapin

Dr. Donald William Chapin, DDS, died suddenly on June 12, 2020. Don was born April 16, 1968 to Jesse and Judith Chapin in Pontiac. He attended and graduated from Walled Lake Central High School, he then enrolled at Ferris State University to become a Dental Lab Technician. Upon obtaining his Dental Technician certification he became employed with Dr. Robert Singelyn in West Bloomfield and Mason and worked there for 14 years. His desire to further his future, he applied to Oakland University to complete his undergraduate studies. Once accomplished, he then transferred to the University of Detroit Mercy’s Dental School and graduated in 2003 as a Doctor of Dentistry. He then accepted a position with Gateway Dental in Grand Blanc for three years until he purchased Linden Dental in 2006, which he owned and operated until his untimely death.  Beloved father of  three beautiful daughters, Vanessa , Emerson and GreenLee . Dear son of Jesse (the late Linda) Chapin and Judith Merritt. Grandson of Nona and the late Donald Chapin. Brother of Douglas (Chris) Chapin and Andrew Chapin. Step brother of Robert Szaro, Daniel Szaro, Jill (Steve) Smith and Tim (Kari) Szaro. Nephew of Dennis (the late Paula) Smith, Connie (David) Defatta, Larry (Cathy) Chapin. Don also leaves his special love Renee Johnson; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.  Don was an avid boater living on Lobdell Lake before settling on Lake Fenton. He traveled extensively and enjoyed hunting, bass fishing and fast cars. He was a member of The Fenton Moose Lodge where he spent many hours with family and friends sipping some cold brews. He teamed up with his father on Wednesday Steak Nights and Friday Fish Frys and will be missed by him dearly.  His dental practice was voted favorite dental place by the Flint Journal in 2016. Don will be sorely missed by his family, friends and workout group.  May the Lord be with you Don. A memorial fund has been created for his daughters,  The Donald Chapin Memorial Fund at the State Bank.
