Dennis White Obituary

Dennis Lee White passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023, at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility “Suncrest” with his wife of 49 years Dawn, at his side.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at Springview Community Church in Davisburg, MI.  Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at 1pm followed by the service at 2pm to celebrate his life.

Dennis was born on November 16, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio.  Following his graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country for three years, including an assignment to Korea during peacetime.

After his service in the Army his love for numbers inspired him to pursue an education at Eastern Michigan University which resulted in a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting in 1972.

In 1974 he married the love of his life, Dawn.  His accounting skills led the couple to move to cities in southern Michigan, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and to various locations in Wisconsin where he practiced his profession.

After years of spiritual growth, the couple felt led to pursue a life of ministry.  Dennis enrolled in the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated in 1989 with a Master of Divinity Degree.

Following his graduation, the couple embarked on a new journey of youth ministry which led to a move to Port Huron, MI, where they served as youth pastors for five years.  In 1997, heeding the call of the Holy Spirit, they founded the “Our Father’s House”, where they served as pastors for twenty years.  During this time, they also established their own business, D & D Bookkeeping & Tax Service, in Marysville, Michigan, where they served the community for 23 years.  In 2016, due to health reasons, the couple retired to Holly, MI to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Dennis had a wonderful God given gift for music which he loved to share with others both in ministry and his free time.  His infectious laugh was something for which he was both known and loved for.  Grounded deeply in a love for scripture, Dennis was devoted to studying the word and had a rich prayer life.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, including his role as Grandpa to his four grandchildren who lit up his world.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Al White, and his mother, Clara (Sue) White.  Dennis is survived by his wife Dawn; his daughter, Darycka (Aaron) Knop; his granddaughters, Ruby and Ella Knop; and his grandsons, Andrew and Michael Knop.  He is also survived by his sisters, Suellyn (Larry) Van DeSande and Janet Hawkins and a brother Alan (Mary Jo) White.  Also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Dennis will be remembered always for his laughter, his love and his music, all of which brought so much light into this world as well as his life’s call to bring the salvation message to all he encountered and to encourage and strengthen the faith of all to whom he ministered.
