David A. Penness

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Anthony Penness.

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife and love of his life, Kathleen Plummer Penness; his parents, Frederick W. Penness and Cecilia B. Penness; his brother, Frederick M. Penness; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Penness.

He was a father to Amy Lynn Penness (Dakota) and Beth Ann Ealy Moreno (Rafael), and a proud grandfather to Elaina, Sofia, Rafael Jr., and Logan. David was a brother to Carol Penness Gatti (Jim), Susan Penness Lajavic (Don), and Lisa Penness Whelan (Matt), as well as an uncle to many treasured nieces and nephews.

Dave was known for his huge heart, generosity and unwavering willingness to lend a hand to any friend or neighbor in need. A hard worker through and through, he approached every task with dedication and an extraordinary work ethic, driven by deep empathy and compassion for others.

He had a passion for tinkering and spent countless hours working on his truck, motorcycle, and cars, perfecting and detailing them with care and precision. He found joy in the freedom of the open road, taking "joyrides" on his motorcycle that he affectionally called Rhonda. His greatest peace, however, came from spending time on his beautiful property in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula—a place where he felt truly at home.

David had a unique gift for remembering birthdays and had a habit of calling at 4:00 a.m.,  something that will be remembered by many. He also held a deep love for his dogs, Beau and Sawyer, who brought him constant companionship and joy.

Dave, you will forever remain in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that you are no longer in pain, fully healed, and now resting peacefully in God’s loving arms.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
