Clifford Leo Pomeroy

Clifford Leo Pomeroy, age 93, died February 12, 2020. Cliff was born June 5, 1926 on Highland Mountain in West Virginia. Stories about his life on the mountain and his work in the coal mines always had a captive audience. On July 18, 1946, he married the love of his life, Germaine Gwinn. Their love story through the years has been an example for all who knew them. Cliff leaves to cherish his memory his wife, 3 children: Trudy Erwin, James (Sally) and Greg; 4 granddaughters: Jamie (Dan) Whitten, Julie (Jeff) Peake, Sheri (Scott) Petrowski and Erin (Jason) Matthews; 7 great-grandchildren: Seth (Sami) Whitten, Dylan Whitten, Tony Mastin, Avery Whitten, Layne Petrowski, Paige Petrowski and Winnie Matthews. He also leaves his brother Paul, brother-in-law Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Leda Pomeroy, sister Arbutus, brothers Kenneth, Bud, Melvin, Dave and Richard, also special son Tony Erwin. Interesting fact:  Cliff went to his eternal home with a bag of chewing tobacco in his pocket. Why not? He chewed for about 90 of his almost 94 years! Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, 1pm at Unity Christian Church, 5255 S. Linden Rd., Swartz Creek, MI with Pastor Brenda Ethridge presiding. Friends may visit beginning at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unity Christian Church.
