Christopher Lee LaRowe “The Captain"
Age 59, after a long battle with MS and cancer, Chris went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Cremation arrangements made by Temrowski Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
Christopher was born in Flint, Michigan, to Ruth and William “Bill” LaRowe on June 5, 1960. In lieu of a funeral, Christopher was the guest of honor at a Celebration of Life hosted by his family and friends earlier this year. He was recognized for his years of service in the United States Army in a special pinning ceremony.
Christopher proudly served his country from 1980 to 1989. He was a decorated serviceman, having received several medals and ribbons during his years of service. Following his military career, Christopher began a career as an over-the-road truck driver and later drove locally for Penske Trucking until his MS forced him into an early disability retirement.
He spent the last nine years living in Mancelona, Michigan, near the Minzey family farm. He loved looking after the farm and spending time with his “sister from another mister” Tonya Sayers, and her husband Kelly. Special thanks to Tonya and Kelly for all of their love and care during Chris’ illness, and for providing him with a comfortable and loving environment in which to spend his final year. Also, special thanks to Kindred Hospice Care for their compassion and kindness to Christopher and the help and comfort they provided to Tonya and Kelly.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, William LaRowe, and is survived by his mother, Ruth LaRowe, and his five siblings, Sue (Arnold) Nelson, DeWayne LaRowe, Dale (Rita) LaRowe, Colleen (Michael) Joliat, James LaRowe, and sister-in-law, Barb LaRowe.
