Cheryl Rene Springs-Cortese, 66 years old of Fenton Michigan took Jesus’s hand into heaven on November 28, 2024 after a 17 year heroic battle with breast cancer. She was certainly our amazing warrior.
Cheryl, a beacon of generosity, joy and always looking at the bright side was born on November 5, 1958 to Kenneth and Shelby Springs.
After graduating from Swartz Creek high school, she worked for GM proving ground about 15 years, starting as a test driver, followed by Genesys as an ER unit clerk.
Cheryl‘s life was centered around making others happy by unselfishly giving of herself to all who knew her. Cheryl‘s “children” were her nieces & nephews who she loved dearly as if they were her own. She had an endearing love for all of her family, friends, especially Garland, who was always there for her and her sweet puppy Chloe.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Don Cortese of 20 years, married in 2004, her mother, Shelby Sherman, sisters, Michele Springs and Kendra (Wes) Hull, and sister in law, Paula Springs. She leaves behind 13 beautiful nieces and nephews; Tarrah, Chad, Lance, Adam, Logan, Hunter, Breanah, Sean, Mattison, Haley, Austin, Mariah and Michaela.
Preceeding her in death, were her brothers; Curtis, Matthew and father, Kenneth.
As we say goodbye to Cheryl, we celebrate a life that was a beacon of hope, a testament to faith and a reminder to cherish every moment. From her perfect penmanship, her fluting of a pie crust, her love of the magic of everything Christmas…even in July, being together as a big family at every holiday, wedding and family gathering, her love of the warm feeling of sunshine on her body, her McDonald’s Mocha Frappe’s and to her infamous surprises to everyone, was as beautiful as the life she inscribed upon our hearts. Her memory will be treasured always.
A celebration of life service will be held on December 12, 2024 at 12 noon at Faith Missionary Church 1327 N. Elms Rd. Flint Michigan followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall. Live stream available at Flintfaith.com and scroll down to click on live streaming.
