Beverly Jean (Huffman) Chappel, of Mundy Township, Michigan, passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 91. She had a long and satisfying life.
Beverly was born on a farm in Kingsley, Michigan to Adam and Elizabeth (Dooling) Huffman. She cherished her life in the country but gave it up when she married Howard Chappel in 1952 and they moved to the city, where he worked at GM Truck and Bus Flint. He found out then that he had “a tiger by the tail”.
Beverly loved her family, her many loyal friends, her congregation, her garden, and making the best jams and fruit pies. Most of all, she loved her God and dedicated her life to doing his will as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Beverly was baptized in Lake Cadillac in 1942. She was a diligent student of the Bible, and she thoroughly enjoyed teaching others about God’s Kingdom, the only true hope for solving mankind’s problems. For more information about Beverly’s beliefs, please go to jw.org.
She is survived by her sons Douglas (Jennifer) Chappel of Wallkill, NY, and Stephen (Geraldine) Chappel of Evans City, PA; granddaughters Brianne (Jayson) Phillips of Butler, PA and Alyssa (Stephan) Rayon of Mars, PA; great-grandson Miles; sister Sandra Poling of Flint, MI; and nieces and nephews. Beverly was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Howard Chappel, as well as her parents and a sister, Verda Huffman.
A heartfelt thanks goes to the Grand Blanc Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, for their continuous love and support. Deep appreciation also goes to Todd Follis for his tireless visits and assistance. Many of the aides from HomeWell Care Services have our sincere gratitude for the kindness that they showed, as well as Amara Hospice for their attention.
A memorial service will be held on March 2, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4255 McCandlish Road, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Please contact the family for Zoom information.
