Betsy Leigh Brelinski Obituary
Betsy “Hottie” Brelinski passed away peacefully at her home in Flint on May 27, 2026.
Betsy was born in Flint, MI on March 2, 1965, to Richard and Sharon Brelinski. She grew up in Grand Blanc, MI and graduated with GBHS’s Class of ‘83. She had a passion for art, especially drawing, and went on to study at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. Betsy received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with the Class of ‘89 and embraced her talent by becoming a commissioned artist.
Betsy made dozens of friends through her school years and beyond that will sorely miss her. She began dating Michele Huff in her twenties, and they were thrilled to marry on October 31, 2015. Betsy had many happy years with Michele, and their home was always warm and welcoming to friends and family. Many will fondly remember fun times at their pop-up bar, Slick’s, summer parties, campfires, barbecues, games and always, great music.
Betsy enjoyed doing special things for people, like playing personalized CDs with their favorite songs, making their favorite foods, sending handmade greeting cards and giving thoughtful gifts. She enjoyed simple pleasures like golf, puzzles, board games, and naming the squirrels that dropped by daily for peanuts. She was a perfectionist when it came to her portrait art and did beautiful work.
Betsy deeply loved her parents and brothers. She was comforted by the frequent presence of her brother, Todd, during her 2-month fight with cancer. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sharon Brelinski and her brother, Jeff Brelinski. It comforted her greatly to know they’d be reunited in a heavenly afterlife.
Betsy is survived by her wife, Michele Brelinski; brother Todd Brelinski (Martina); daughter Amanda Matteson (Donny); sister-in-law Kim Terry (Blaine); sister-in-law Tammy Bailey (Troy); eight grandchildren and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews in her large, extended family.
After cremation, a memorial visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, from 2:00– 6:00 PM, at Temrowski Family Funeral Home, 500 Main St, Fenton, MI.
