Beth G. (Judd) Michels

Mrs. Beth Georgia Michels (nee: Judd), age 90 of Flushing, died December 29th, 2018 at Hyde Park Assisted Living in Flushing. Beth was born at home in Juddville, Michigan on January 31, 1928, to Edward Stanton Judd and Pearl Louise (Maves) Judd. She graduated from Owosso High School and then earned her Registered Nursing degree from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan, graduating in 1949.  She met Dr. Robert Michels, while in nursing school. They married October 8, 1949, and shared 69 years together, until Robert’s death on November 21, 2018. Except for the first years of their marriage, when they lived out East while Robert served as a physician in the armed forces, they lived their entire married life in Flushing. Beth worked in her husband’s new medical practice which operated out of their home on McKinley Road in Flushing. When the second of their four children arrived, Beth devoted her time to her children, Flushing community organizations, Trinity Episcopal Church, where the entire family were active members, Genesee County Medical Auxiliary, volunteering for Red Cross, and for over 30 years was an active member of PEO, a philanthropic educational organization, which assists and gives scholarships and grants to women desiring to continue their college education. Beth spent her life helping others in need.  Beth is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Moulton, M. Stanton Michels (Bruce Shiramizu), J. Mark (Elizabeth) Michels and Mary Richards; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Moulton, Christopher Moulton, Michelle Moulton, Kristen (Aaron) Smith, Kathryn Michels, and two great-grandchildren, Cana Smith, and Andrew Smith; brother, Stanton Judd; and, many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Donations may be made to PEO, the American Cancer Society, or Juddville United Methodist Church.  Visitation will take place at Juddville United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2019, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.  The family appreciates all thoughts and prayers as Beth will be missed by her family and all who knew her, by her kind, giving and loving spirit.
