Berdine Marie Mitchell , age 78, of Flushing, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Berdine was born June 5, 1943 in Lum, MI to Stanley and Arlene (Sweet) Watt. After graduating from Imlay City High School she attended Michigan State University. Berdine retired from the operating room at Flint Osteopathic Hospital after 25 years of service. She then began her next 10 year adventure as an over the road truck driver. Berdine was a kind, compassionate and adventurous woman. Throughout the years she built many friendships and could be found with a smile on her face and a joke to share. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, gardening, growing giant pumpkins, making beautiful quilts and singing Karaoke with her many friends. But more than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her strength and bravery throughout her ongoing health battles was immeasurable.
Berdine is survived by her daughter Melissa (Curtis) Fitch; grandchildren Anthony, Shannon, Tiffany, Wyatt and Lillian; great grandchildren Parker and Paityn; siblings Darlene Hunter and William (Jewel) Watt. She was preceded in death by her son Charles Mitchell; parents Stanley and Arlene Watt; and siblings Robert Watt and Marlene Burrows.
In accordance with Berdine's wishes cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held on September 8, 2021 at 11:00am at Mt. Zion Catholic Community, 8228 N. McKinley Rd., Flushing. Visitation and refreshments will follow.
