Alton McKee Obituary

Alton E. McKee, age 88, of Linden, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, surrounded by his loving wife, Theresa, who was his caretaker for the last few years.  Al was born March 9, 1932, on the farm of his parents, C. Omer McKee and Geraldine L. McKee (nee: Howell), in Turner, MI. After graduating from high school, Al worked the farm with Omer for five years, and in February of 1953 Al joined the U.S. Army. He served as a medic in the 110th Infantry Regiment and was stationed in Ulm, Germany. After being discharged in 1955, Al matriculated at Central Michigan University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Accounting in 1959. In 1969 he moved to Linden and set up the first Certified Public Accounting firm in Fenton. Al enjoyed a longstanding love of horses and harness racing, and he always had a pony or saddle horse on which to teach kids to ride and at least one Standardbred horse that he and family members raced around Michigan. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and reading voraciously. Al was a longtime member of the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church and later the Linden United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by spouse Donna J. McKee (nee:Viola), spouse Helen C. McKee (nee: Begley) and son Samuel A. McKee. He is survived by spouse M. Theresa Mayers-McKee; daughter Sally A. McKee; daughter-in-law Christine McKee; stepsons Randy Kinne, Wayne (Karen) Kinne, Rod (Jeannie) Kinne, David (Terri) Mayers, and Paul Mayers; grandchildren Meagan M. McKee, Melissa L. McKee, and Lindsey M. (Gina Dibartolo) McKee; sisters Gertrude Martin and Nancy (Bob) Davis; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place in the spring.
