Marissa Parks Obituary

Marissa L. Parks, age 27, died October 22, 2019 at home in Linden after her lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  Born June 10, 1992 in Pontiac, she is the daughter of Clayton (Elberta) Parks, older sister of Adaline Parks and Shelby Parks.  Preceded in death by her grandmother Helen Boyce, grandfather Leslie Boyce, aunt Annie Parks, and many friends who also passed away after battling Cystic Fibrosis.  Marissa is survived by parents, sisters, grandparents Clayton Parks Sr, Vickie (Dave) Verhoff, Donivan Pugh, uncle Leslie Bowman (aunt Kim), nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and nurses (6C) & doctors at UofM Hospital.  Though her life was short, this young lady always had a positive attitude and did more than many people who have lived a long life. She loved to work, was passionate about all things Disney and had big dreams, but it was not meant to be. The problem, she wanted to do so much more and would have, if her body only had let her.  Marissa enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows (Alton Brown), eating out and really, all things food related.  Marissa attended K-12 at Lake Fenton and earned an associate degree from Iowa Central College where she majored in music and drama. She started racing a Junior Dragster at age 9 and spent years traveling around many states and tracks competing.  The highlight of her life was working at Disney, her dream job.  Her last wish was fulfilled with her body being donated to the University of Michigan Medical School Anatomical Program, so her passing could help others in the future.  Marissa was an inspiration to all and every life she touched is a better life because of her wonderful spirit.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
