James Oran Alber, age 73, passed away at University of Michigan Hospital on November 3, 2019. Jim was born March 7, 1946 in Holly, Michigan and was 1965 graduate of Holly High School. He married Paula Donigan on November 22, 1969. He retired from General Motors AC Delphi in 1996. Jim also served 8 years in the US Navy Special Forces. He worked for the State of Michigan Parks and Rec for several years, in addition to the Salvation Army. He enjoyed playing music, supporting the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and spending time with his family. He was an avid dog lover, fan of riding motorcycles, and member of Victory Biker Church. Jim was never lacking for a joke to tell and was a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oran and Lois Alber, brother Dennis, and special four legged companion, Freckles. Surviving are his children, James (Alicia) Alber, Jodi (Greg) Heethuis, and Jeremy (Christina) Alber; grandchildren, Morgan Heethuis, Dylan (Briannah) Kehoe, Brayden Bobo, and Savannah, Alyssa, Gavin, Sydney and Winston Alber; close friend and mother of his children, Paula Alber; special grand-dogs, Sawyer, Doc and Meli. Donations in his honor can be made to the Salvation Army. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 7, 5pm at Victory Biker Church, 12190 Miller Rd. Lennon, MI.
